Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR ACTIVE DTC 
    NOTE:

    If there are any 5 Volt Reference DTCs, perform the Diagnostics on those DTCs before continuing with this one.

    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. Using the scan tool, erase PCM DTCs.
    3. Perform several ignition cycles, turning the ignition off for at least 10 seconds between each ignition cycle.
    4. Using the scan tool, actuate the Intake Swirl Valve.
    5. Monitor the scan tool for PCM DTCs.

      Did this DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
  2. CHECK THE (N119) ISV POSITION SENSOR 2 SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the ISV Position Sensor 2 harness connector.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. Measure the voltage on the (N119) ISV Position Sensor 2 Signal circuit at the ISV Position Sensor 2 harness connector.

      Is the voltage above 5.2 Volts?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (N119) Intake Swirl Valve Position Sensor 2 Signal circuit for a short to voltage.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. INTAKE SWIRL VALVE POSITION SENSOR 2 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Replace the Intake Swirl Valve Position Sensor 2 in accordance with the service information.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, erase PCM DTCs.
    5. Perform several ignition key cycles leaving the ignition on for at least 10 seconds per cycle.
    6. Using the scan tool, actuate the Intake Swirl Valve.
    7. With the scan tool, read PCM DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display this DTC?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to REMOVAL .
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No
