Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
If there are any Intake Swirl Valve Actuator DTCs OR other Position Sensor 1 DTCs present, perform the Diagnostics for those DTCs before continuing with this one.
NOTE:If there are any 5-Volt Supply DTCs present, perform the Diagnostics for those DTCs before continuing with this one.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the scan tool, erase PCM DTCs.
- Perform several ignition cycles, turning the ignition off for at least 10 seconds between each ignition cycle.
- Using the scan tool, actuate the Intake Swirl Valve.
- Monitor the scan tool for PCM DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
- INTAKE SWIRL VALVE
- Replace the Intake Swirl Valve Position Sensor 1 in accordance with the service information.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Erase the DTC(s).
- Start the engine and allow it to idle for up to two minutes.
- Stop the engine. Leave the ignition on.
- Using the scan tool, actuate the Intake Swirl Valve.
- Using the scan tool, view active DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
NOTE:Before replacing the Intake Manifold, check for excessive buildup or coking in the Intake Manifold that may be causing the Intake Swirl Valve to stick or bind. Also inspect the jumper harness and connectors for damage. If any damage is found, replace the jumper harness.
- Replace the Intake Manifold in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test complete.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
