Diagnostic Test

  1. DTC IS ACTIVE 
    1. Ignition on, engine not running.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
    3. Monitor the scan tool for at least two minutes.
    4. Cycle the ignition key off and on several times, leaving the ignition on for at least 10 seconds at a time.
    5. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

      Is the status Active for this DTC?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
  2. CHECK THE (G224) EOT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the EOT Sensor harness connector.
    3. Disconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
    4. Measure the resistance between ground and the (G224) EOT Signal circuit at the EOT Sensor harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

      • Repair the (G224) Engine Oil Temperature Signal circuit for a short to ground.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. CHECK THE (G224) EOT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO THE (G924) SENSOR RETURN CIRCUIT 
    1. Measure the resistance between the (G224) EOT Signal circuit and the (G924) Sensor Return circuit at the EOT Sensor harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Go To  4

      No 

      • Repair the short between the (G224) Engine Oil Temperature Signal circuit and the (G924) Sensor Return circuit.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
  4. POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Replace the Engine Oil Temperature Sensor in accordance with the service information.
    3. Reconnect the EOT Sensor harness connector.
    4. Reconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
    5. Ignition on, engine not running.
    6. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
    7. Start the engine and let it run for 10 minutes.
    8. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

      Did this DTC become active?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to REMOVAL .
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
