Diagnostic Test

- DTC IS ACTIVE
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
- Monitor the scan tool for at least two minutes.
- Cycle the ignition key off and on several times, leaving the ignition on for at least 10 seconds at a time.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs.
Is the status Active for this DTC?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
- CHECK THE (K362) INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the MAF/Intake Air Sensor harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage of the (K362) Intake Air Temperature Signal circuit at the MAF/Intake Air Sensor harness connector.
Does the voltage measure above 5.2 volts?
Yes
- Repair the (K362) Intake Air Temperature Signal circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- CHECK THE (K362) INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SIGNAL FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (K362) Intake Air Temperature Signal circuit between the MAF/Intake Air Sensor harness connector and the PCM C1 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the (K362) Intake Air Temperature Signal circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (K757) SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Measure the resistance of the (K757) Sensor Ground circuit between the MAF/Intake Air Sensor harness connector and the PCM C1 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Repair the (K757) Sensor Ground circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- Measure the resistance of the (K757) Sensor Ground circuit between the MAF/Intake Air Sensor harness connector and the PCM C1 harness connector.
- MAF/INTAKE AIR SENSOR
- Turn the ignition off.
- Reconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
- Connect a jumper wire between the (K757) MAF/Intake Air Sensor Ground circuit and the (K362) Intake Air Temperature Signal circuit at the MAF/Intake Air Sensor harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs.NOTE:
The scan tool should display a P0112-Intake Air Temperature Sensor Low DTC as active or pending with the jumper wire in place.
Does the scan tool display the DTC as described above?
Yes
- Replace the Mass Air Flow/Intake Air Sensor in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 6
- POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE
- Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the Mass Air Flow/Intake Air Temperature Sensor and the Powertrain Control Module.
- Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
- Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals.
- Monitor the scan tool data relative to this circuit and wiggle test the wiring and connectors.
- Look for the data to change or for the DTC to reset during the wiggle test.
- Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
