Diagnostic Test

- DTC IS ACTIVE
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
- Cycle the ignition key off and on several times, leaving the ignition on for at least 10 seconds at a time.
- Start the engine and let it run for two minutes.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs.
Is the status Active for this DTC?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
- CHECK THE (K49) CAC OUT TEMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the CAC Out Temp Sensor harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage on the (K49) CAC Out Temp Signal circuit at the CAC Out Temp Sensor harness connector.
Is the voltage above 5.2 Volts?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the (K49) Charge Air Cooler Out Temperature Signal circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (K50) RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Measure the resistance of the (K50) Return circuit between the CAC Out Temp Sensor harness connector and the PCM C1 harness connector.
Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (K50) Return circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- Measure the resistance of the (K50) Return circuit between the CAC Out Temp Sensor harness connector and the PCM C1 harness connector.
- CAC OUT TEMP SENSOR
- Replace the Charge Air Cooler Out Temperature Sensor in accordance with the service information.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase PCM DTCs.
- Perform several ignition key cycles leaving the ignition on for at least 10 seconds per cycle.
- Start the engine and let it run for two minutes.
- With the scan tool, read PCM DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC?
Yes
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test complete.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
