Operation-Column Shifter

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 RAM 1500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Drive range provides underdrive FIRST, SECOND and THIRD gears, direct FOURTH gear and overdrive FIFTH and SIXTH gears. The shift into overdrive FIFTH and SIXTH gear occurs only after the transmission has completed the shift into FOURTH gear. No other movement of the shift mechanism is required to complete the 4-5 or 5-6 gear shifts.

The +/- button on the shifter lever allows manual shifts into each gear. When the +/- button is used on the shifter, the transmission will not automatically downshift, this system holds the gear.

The shift range can be adjusted to the current operating conditions by pressing the button for (+) to upshift or (-) to downshift from the "D" position. The display in the instrument cluster will display the current engaged gear.
