Section 565 (Starting (Service Information) 1500): Starter: Removal: 3.6L

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. Raise the vehicle.

  3. Remove the starter heat shield (1).

  4. Remove the battery positive cable connector eyelet (2) from the solenoid battery terminal stud.
  5. Disconnect the starter relay solenoid electrical connector (1) from the solenoid terminal connector receptacle.
  6. Remove the two starter bolts (4).
  7. Move the starter (3) motor towards the front of vehicle far enough for the nose of the starter pinion housing to clear the housing.
  8. Remove the starter motor.
