3.6L, 5.7L Engines

Review the warnings and cautions for this system before performing the procedure. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the air filter housing cover and engine air inlet tube. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL, 3.6L or BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL, 5.7L .
- Remove the nut (1) that secures the A/C suction line (2) to the Internal Heat Exchanger assembly.
- Remove the nut (2) that secures the A/C suction line (1) to the A/C compressor (4).
- Disconnect the A/C suction line from the A/C compressor.
- Remove the plastic retaining brackets that secure the A/C suction line to the A/C discharge line and to the upper front of the engine.
- Remove the A/C suction line from the engine compartment.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seals and gaskets from the A/C suction line and install plugs in, or tape over the opened suction line fittings and the expansion valve and compressor ports.
