Diagnostic Test

  1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
    3. Open and close the driver door several times from the outside and inside handles.
    4. Wait 30 seconds.
    5. With the scan tool, read the DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display B18D5-DRIVER DOOR PAWL SWITCH STUCK?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • The conditions that caused this code to set are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. DOOR HANDLE (INSIDE OR OUTSIDE) STICKING 
    1. Open and close the driver door several times from the outside and inside handles.

      Does either handle tend to stick?

      Yes 

      • Disassemble the driver door panel. Locate, repair or replace the cause for the sticking handle (or latch).
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. DRIVER DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY

    1. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
    2. Disconnect the Driver Door Latch connector.
    3. With the scan tool, read the DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display B18D5-DRIVER DOOR PAWL SWITCH STUCK?

      No 

      • Replace the Driver Door Latch Assembly in accordance with service information.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      Yes 

      • Go To  4
  4. (Q59) DRIVER WINDOW DROP SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Driver Door Module C2 connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between ground and the (Q59) Driver Window Drop Switch Sense circuit.

      Is the resistance below 10, 000 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Q59) Driver Window Drop Switch Sense circuit for a short to ground.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Replace the Driver Door Module in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
