Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 RAM 1500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. VERIFY THE DTC IS ACTIVE 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.
    3. With the scan tool, read the DTCs in the ASCM.

      Is the DTC active at this time? 

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Go To  4
  2. AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM LEAKS 
    1. Using the scan tool, under "Miscellaneous Functions" perform the Set Ride Height Level routine
    2. Using the scan tool, select "Off Road 2".
    3. Using the scan tool, under "Miscellaneous Functions" perform the Component Air Mass/Pressure/Ride Height routine.
    4. Record the Air Mass and Ride Height values.
    5. Using the scan tool, select CLOSE routine (NOT CONTINUE).
      NOTE: This will place the vehicle in "In Plant Mode".  
    6. Let vehicle sit for 24 hours.
    7. Using the scan tool, under "Miscellaneous Functions" perform the Component Air Mass/Pressure/Ride Height routine.
    8. Record the Air Mass and Ride Height values.

      Do the pressures and ride heights match?  

      Yes 

      • Go to  3.

      No 

      • Perform the Air Suspension System leak test in accordance with the Service Information. (Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING ) .
  3. AIR COMPRESSOR VENT VALVE LEAKING OR STUCK OPEN 
    1. Inspect the compressor for damage, blockages or obstructions to the vent valve that may cause an air leak.
    2. If compressor is damaged or leaking, Replace the Compressor (Refer to COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY, AIR SUSPENSION )
    3. If no leak or blockage is present, perform the COMPLETE SYSTEM FILL (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE )
    4. With the scan tool, clear DTCs
    5. With the scan tool, read the DTCs in the ASCM.

      Does the DTC remain active? 

      Yes 

      No 

      • Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time.
  4. INTERMITTENT WIRING, CONNECTORS AND AIR LINES 
    1. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring harness and connectors.
    2. Wiggle test the wiring harness and connectors while monitoring the scan tool data relative to this circuit.
    3. Look for the data to change or for the DTC to reset during the wiggle test.
    4. While monitoring the scan tool data relative to this circuit, move the selector switch to each position several times.
    5. Look for the data to change other than as expected or for the DTC to reset.

      Were any problems found? 

      Yes 

      No 

      • Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time.
