Engine Block: Crankshaft: Removal: Removal

  1. Disconnect both negative battery cables.
  2. Remove the engine from vehicle and mount on a suitable engine stand. Refer to REMOVAL .

  3. Remove bolts (3) and the oil pan (2).

  4. Remove bolts (2 and 3) and the oil pickup tube (1).

  5. Remove bolts (1) and the block stiffener.

  6. Remove the front timing case housing (2). Refer to HOUSING, Timing Case, Front .

  7. Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal retainer (1). Refer to RETAINER, Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal .

  8. Remove bolts (3) and the connecting rod bearing cap for each piston.
  9. Remove bolts (2) and the crankshaft main bearing caps.

  10. Carefully remove the crankshaft (3) from the engine block (1).
  11. If required, remove the timing gear from the crankshaft.
