Module, Integrated Trailer Brake (ITBM): Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 RAM 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:

The Integrated Trailer Brake Module (ITBM) does not control the trailer lights or the vehicle lights.

Automatic Braking  The Integrated Trailer Brake Module is a device that based on inputs from the user and information from the CAN network control the trailer brakes (electrical or electric over hydraulic). The module contains microcontroller based electronics to calculate the output signal, diagnose the elements involved and communicate information to the vehicle network. The ITBM is capable of adjust the gain depending what the user input on the center stack switches, apply the brakes depending on the status of the manual lever, communicate the status of the braking/trailer in the EVIC, be selectable between electric brakes and EOH brakes, adjust the aggressiveness based on what type of trailer is selected on the EVIC, reacts to preemptive trailer sway events and during a trailer sway event to improve the control and braking of the vehicle, react during a hill start assist event to minimize the rollback feeling and help to avoid the noise on the hitch during a stop and go.

Manual Trailer Braking  In addition to automatic trailer braking, the user can manually apply the trailer brakes prior to or without the vehicle brakes by sliding the ITBM manual sliding brake lever/switch to the left at any time.
