Housing, Timing Case, Front: Installation

  1. Inspect oil pan gasket. If torn, gasket must be replaced.
  2. Install a new front timing case housing gasket (4).
  3. Place a small amount of Mopar® engine RTV to the corners of the block and pan gasket T-joint to ensure a good seal.
  4. Install the front timing case housing (3) and tighten bolts (1, 3) finger tight.

  5. Using the tightening sequence shown in illustration, tighten bolts to 24 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).

  6. Install the front six oil pan bolts (1) and tighten to 43 N.m (32 ft. lbs.).
  7. Install Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor. Refer to SENSOR, CRANKSHAFT POSITION, INSTALLATION .
  8. Install the fuel injection pump. Refer to PUMP, FUEL INJECTION, INSTALLATION .
  9. Install the power steering pump. Refer to PUMP, INSTALLATION .
  10. Install the camshaft. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  11. Connect both of the negative battery cables.
  12. Start engine and inspect for leaks.
