Seal, Crankshaft Oil, Rear: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate both of the negative battery cables.
  2. On automatic transmission vehicles, remove the flexplate. Refer to FLEXPLATE, REMOVAL, 6.7L .
  3. On Manual transmission vehicles, remove the flywheel. Refer to FLYWHEEL, REMOVAL .

  4. Using a 3/32 (0.0938 in.) drill bit, drill two pilot holes 180° apart into the rear seal (2). Use caution not to contact the crankshaft (3) or the seal retainer when drilling pilot holes.
  5. Install a No. 10 sheet metal screws (1) in the drilled pilot holes and remove the rear crankshaft oil seal (3) with a slide hammer (4).
