Valves, Intake And Exhaust: Installation

  1. Install the NEW  valve seals. The yellow seals are for the intake valves and the green seals are for the exhaust valves.

  2. Install the valves (1, 2) in their original position. The exhaust valves (2) are identified by a dimple on the valve head.

  3. Install the valve springs (4), and retainer (5).

  4. Install the Valve Spring Compressor Tool base (special tool #8319, Compressor, Valve Spring) (1) as shown in illustration.

  5. Install the Valve Spring Compressor top plate (1), washer, and nut (special tool #8319, Compressor, Valve Spring).
  6. Compress the valve springs and install the valve retaining locks.
  7. Remove the Valve Spring Compressor tool (special tool #8319, Compressor, Valve Spring) and repeat the procedure on the remaining cylinders.
  8. Install the cylinder head. Refer to INSTALLATION .
