Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 RAM 3500 HD and 2016 RAM 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. ACTIVE DTC
    NOTE:

If DTC U02A2 is present, perform the Diagnostics for that DTC before continuing with this one.

    1. Ignition on, engine not running.
    2. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is this DTC active?

      Yes

      • Go To  2

      No

  2. CHECK SYSTEM VOLTAGE
    1. Check the Batteries and charging system for proper system voltage and operation.

      Is the system voltage normal?

      Yes

      • Go To  3

      No

  3. CHECK THE DEF QUALITY SENSOR POWER AND GROUND CIRCUITS
    1. Turn the ignition on, engine not running.
    2. Disconnect the DEF Quality Sensor harness connector.
    3. Measure the voltage across the (F205) SCR Relay circuit and the (Z914) Ground circuit at the DEF Quality Sensor harness connector.

Does the voltage read within 1.0 volt of Battery voltage?

      Yes

      No

      • Go To  4
  4. CHECK FOR THE (F205) SCR RELAY CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Measure for continuity between ground and the (F205) SCR Relay circuit at the DEF Quality Sensor harness connector.

      Is there continuity to ground?

      Yes

      No
