Catalyst, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR): Removal: Removal

If torches are used when servicing the exhaust system, do not allow any flame near the fuel lines or the fuel tank. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Disconnect and isolate both of the negative battery cables.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- If equipped, remove the skid plates.
- Disconnect the front exhaust temperature sensors wire harness connector (1).
- If equipped, disconnect the Particulate Matter (PM) sensor wire harness connector.
- Disconnect the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) injector wire harness connector (2).
- Disconnect the DEF fluid supply line (1).
- Disconnect the rear exhaust temperature sensors wire harness connector.
- Remove bank 1/2 NOx sensors. Refer to SENSOR, NOX, REMOVAL .
- Remove the tailpipe assembly. Refer to TAILPIPE, EXHAUST, REMOVAL .
- Saturate the DEF injector bolts and SCR flange nuts (3) with Moper® Rust Inhibitor. Allow 5 minutes for penetration.
- Remove the SCR (2) from the isolators (1).
- Remove the nuts (3) and the SCR (2).
- Remove and discard the flange gaskets.
