Diagnostic Test

  1. DTC IS ACTIVE 
    NOTE:

    If DTCs P0691 or P0692 are present, run the Diagnostics on those DTCs before continuing with this one.

    1. Ignition on, engine not running.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
    3. Crank the engine for no more than 10 seconds if it will not start.
    4. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

      Is the status Active for this DTC?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
  2. CHECK THE RADIATOR FAN MODULE FUSED 12-VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Cooling Fan Module harness connector.
    3. Measure the voltage between ground and the Radiator Fan Module Fused 12-Volt Supply circuit at the Cooling Fan Module harness connector.

      Is the voltage less than a direct connection to the Battery?

      Yes 

      • Repair the Radiator Fan Module Fused 12-Volt Supply circuit for an open/high resistance.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK (N27) RADIATOR FAN CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the (N27) Radiator Fan Control circuit between the PCM C1 harness connector and the Cooling Fan Module harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (N27) Radiator Fan Control circuit for an open/high resistance.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) 
    1. Replace the Cooling Fan Module in accordance with the service information.
    2. Ignition on, engine not running.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
    4. Start the engine and let it run for 10 minutes.
    5. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

      Is DTC P0480 active?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
