Pump, Water: Removal: 3.0L

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

  2. Remove the engine cover (1).
  3. Drain the coolant into a clean container. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  4. Remove the pressurized coolant bottle. Refer to BOTTLE, PRESSURIZED COOLANT, REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the electric vacuum pump. Refer to PUMP, ELECTRIC VACUUM, REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the A/C suction line that is routed in front of water pump to the A/C compressor. Refer to LINE, A/C SUCTION, REMOVAL .
  7. Remove the A/C discharge line that is routed in front of water pump to the A/C compressor. Refer to LINE, A/C DISCHARGE, REMOVAL .
  8. Remove the coolant temperature sensor. Refer to SENSOR, COOLANT TEMPERATURE, REMOVAL .
  9. Remove the thermostat housing assembly. Refer to THERMOSTAT, REMOVAL .

  10. Remove the coolant recovery bottle purge hose (2).
  11. Remove the lower radiator hose at water pump (1) and position aside.

  12. Remove the belt tensioner assembly. Refer to TENSIONER, BELT, REMOVAL .

  13. Remove the bolts (2, 3) and the belt tensioner mounting bracket (1).

    CAUTION:

    The fuel lines are a one time torque. If the fuel lines are removed. They would require replacing.

  14. Remove the fuel supply line (2). Refer to TUBE(S), FUEL, REMOVAL .

  15. Remove the bolts (1) and the coolant tube (2).

  16. Remove the bolts (1) and water pump assembly (2).
  17. Remove the bolts (5) and the coolant inlet tube (5).
  18. Remove and discard the O-ring seal (3) from the coolant inlet tube (5).

  19. Remove and discard O-ring seal (1) from the engine coolant tube (2).
