Diagnostic Test

- TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION NOTE: Check for any TSB(s) related to the condition. If a TSB applies, perform the procedure outlined in the TSB before continuing.
- Turn the ignition on.NOTE: Make sure the battery voltage is between 10.0 and 16.0 volts.
- With the scan tool, read the module status.NOTE: Check the Body Control Module for any active CAN hardware DTCs, perform DTC before proceeding.
- The no response condition is not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Go to 2
Does the scan tool indicate that the module is active on the bus?
Yes
No
- Turn the ignition on.
- CHECK THE PCM POWER AND GROUND CIRCUITS
- Check the PCM power and ground circuits. Refer to CHECKING THE PCM POWER AND GROUND CIRCUITS
and perform the Checking the PCM Power and Ground Circuits diagnostic procedure.
Were any problems found?
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- Go to 3
Yes
No
- Check the PCM power and ground circuits. Refer to CHECKING THE PCM POWER AND GROUND CIRCUITS
and perform the Checking the PCM Power and Ground Circuits diagnostic procedure.
- CHECK THE (D27) CAN C BUS (-) AND (D28) CAN C BUS (+) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the STAR Connector C2 harness connector.
- Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (D28) CAN C Bus (+) circuit between the STAR Connector C2 harness connector and the PCM C1 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (D27) CAN C Bus (-) circuit between the STAR Connector C2 harness connector and the PCM C1 harness connector.
- Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- Repair the open in the (D27) CAN C Bus (-) or (D28) CAN C Bus (+) circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
Are the resistances below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
No
