Diagnostic Test

CHECK FOR OTHER DTCS
NOTE:
If conditions are cold, CAC icing will set this fault. Look for restriction in the CAC for icing. Icing will melt in a shop environment and might not see the restriction upon inspection.

Turn the ignition on.
1. With the scan tool, read and record the freeze frame data.
2. With the scan tool, read the Engine DTCs.
  Are there any DTCs set for the Turbocharger system, MAF Sensor, Boost Pressure Sensor, or TMAP Sensor?
  
  Yes
  - Repair other DTCs before proceeding.
  No
  - Go To 2
CHECK FOR AN AIR FILTER RESTRICTION
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Remove the Air Filter and inspect for excessive debris causing a restriction.
  Is the Air Filter restricted?
  
  Yes
  - Replace the Air Filter in accordance with the Service Information.
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Go To 3
CHECK THE AIR CLEANER BOX FOR PROPER SEALING
1. Check the Air Cleaner Box for being cracked, out of position, lid not secured, or other damage. Also, check the connection between the Inlet Air Tube and the Air Cleaner Box to make sure that it is sealed properly.
  Is the Air Cleaner Box free of damage and the Inlet Air Tube installed and sealed properly?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 4
  No
  - Repair or replace the Air Cleaner Box (as needed) and/or repair the connection between the Air Cleaner Box and the Inlet Air Tube.
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
CHECK THE INTAKE SYSTEM FOR LEAKS OR RESTRICTIONS
1. Perform the INTAKE AIR SYSTEM PRESSURE TEST diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTAKE AIR SYSTEM PRESSURE TEST .
  Were any Intake System leaks or restrictions found?
  
  Yes
  - Perform the appropriate repair.
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Go To 5
CHECK THE CHARGE AIR COOLER
1. Remove and clean the Charge Air Cooler with approved Mopar® EGR system cleaner.
2. Reinstall the Charge Air Cooler.
3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
4. Turn the ignition off for 75 seconds.
5. Start the engine.
6. Test drive the vehicle. With the scan tool in Data Display, verify that the engine operating mode is normal.
7. With the scan tool, read DTCs.
  Did the DTC return or P056E become active or pending?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 6
  No
  - Repair complete.
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
CHECK FOR PROPER VARIABLE GEOMETRY MECHANISM ACTUATION
1. Perform the VARIABLE GEOMETRY MECHANISM CHECKS.
  Did the sector gear travel pass the variable geometry mechanism check?
  
  Yes
  - Repair complete.
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Replace the Turbocharger assembly in accordance with the Service Information.
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
