Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR OTHER DTCS
- If DTC P0106, P0107, P0108, P064F, P2227, P2228, P2229 or any EGR related DTCs are present, perform those test procedures before proceeding.
- Refer to the recorded DTCs.
Are any of the listed component DTCs present?
Yes
- Perform the applicable diagnostic procedure(s). Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .
No
- Go To 2
- CHECK FOR PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENTS AND/OR AFTERMARKET PARTS NOTE:
If DTC P0106, P0107, P0108, P064F, P2227, P2228, P2229 or any EGR related DTCs are present, perform those test procedures before proceeding.
NOTE:An Exhaust System Restriction can set this DTC.
- Unapproved software calibrations or unauthorized Performance Enhancements and/or Aftermarket Parts can set this DTC.
Is there evidence of unapproved software calibrations or unauthorized Performance Enhancements and/or Aftermarket Parts?
Yes
- Repair Complete.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- Unapproved software calibrations or unauthorized Performance Enhancements and/or Aftermarket Parts can set this DTC.
- CHECK THE AIR CLEANER BOX FOR PROPER SEALING
- Check the Air Cleaner Box for being cracked, out of position, lid not secured, or other damage. Also, check the connection between the Inlet Air Tube and the Air Cleaner Box to make sure that it is sealed properly.
Is the Air Cleaner Box free of damage and the Inlet Air Tube installed and sealed properly?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair or replace the Air Cleaner Box (as needed) and/or repair the connection between the Air Cleaner Box and the Inlet Air Tube.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check the Air Cleaner Box for being cracked, out of position, lid not secured, or other damage. Also, check the connection between the Inlet Air Tube and the Air Cleaner Box to make sure that it is sealed properly.
- VERIFY THE ACCURACY OF THE TMAP SENSOR BOOST PRESSURE READING WITH THE SCAN TOOL
- Connect the scan tool.
- Monitor the Boost Pressure.
Is the value less than 4.0 psi?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Replace the Temperature/Manifold Absolute Pressure (TMAP) Sensor in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK FOR PROPER VARIABLE GEOMETRY MECHANISM ACTUATION
- Perform the VARIABLE GEOMETRY MECHANISM CHECKS. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING, 6.7L
.
Did the sector gear pass the Variable Geometry Mechanism test?
Yes
- Go To 6
No
- Replace the Turbocharger in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Perform the VARIABLE GEOMETRY MECHANISM CHECKS. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING, 6.7L
.
- CHECK RELATED PCM AND COMPONENT CONNECTIONS
- Perform any Service Bulletins that apply.
- Disconnect all PCM harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Check for spread terminals and verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all PCM harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Test drive or operate the vehicle in accordance with the when monitored and set conditions.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL, (PCM) 6.7L DIESEL [ETL, ETM, ETN], REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- The wiring or poor connection problem has been repaired.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
