Diagnostic Test

  1. READ AND RECORD DTCS - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    NOTE:

    If there are any other EGR, Mass Air Flow (MAF), Turbocharger, or Intake system related DTCs present repair those DTCs before proceeding with this diagnostic test.

    1. With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
    2. For future reference, with the scan tool, run and save a vehicle Scan Report and all related recorded data.
    3. With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
    4. Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 75.0 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition on.
    6. Using the When Monitored and Set Conditions above and recorded data, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    7. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is the DTC active or pending?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE MAF SENSOR 
    1. Turn the Ignition off.
    2. Remove MAF sensor from the air filter box.

      Is it free from debris?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

      • Clean the Mass Air Flow Sensor using low pressure air and reinstall, repair complete.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. CHECK FOR AN AIR LEAK IN THE INTAKE SYSTEM 
    NOTE:

    Any leak between the air box to the intake manifold could cause this DTC to set.

    1. Perform the INTAKE AIR SYSTEM PRESSURE TEST procedure. Refer to INTAKE AIR SYSTEM PRESSURE TEST .

      Were there any Intake Air System leaks?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
