Diagnostic Test

DTC IS ACTIVE
1. Ignition on, engine not running.
2. With the scan tool, erase DTC's.
3. Turn ignition off to the lock position.
4. Ignition on, engine not running.
5. Wait ten seconds.
6. With the scan tool, read DTC's.
  Is the status Active for this DTC?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 2.
  No
  - Go To 3.
WRONG VIN PROGRAMMED IN PCM
1. Ignition on, engine not running.
2. With the scan tool, read the VIN in the PCM.
3. Compare VIN in the PCM to the vehicle VIN.
  Is the correct VIN programmed in the PCM?
  
  Yes
  - Replace the Antilock Brake System (ABS) Module in accordance with the Service Information.
  - Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Replace the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) in accordance with the Service Information.
  - Perform PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 3500 CAB & CHASSIS - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST or 3500 CAB & CHASSIS, 4500 & 5500 - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L .
COMMUNICATION DTCS PRESENT
1. Turn ignition off to the lock position.
2. With the scan tool, read DTC's in all other modules. If any communications DTC's are present, refer to the appropriate diagnostic procedure. Refer to TIPM - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING .
3. Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.
  Were any problems found?
  
  Yes
  - Repair as necessary.
  - Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Test Complete.
