Removal And Installation

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the right wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  4. Cut the high temperature cable tie (3) securing the NOx sensor wire harness, turbocharger actuator wire harness, and the turbocharger speed sensor wire harness.

  5. Cut the high temperature cable wire tie (1) securing NOx wire harness, turbocharger actuator wire harness, and the turbocharger speed sensor wire harness to the oil drain tube.
  6. Carefully separate the clip (2) to allow access to the turbocharger speed sensor wire harness connector.
  7. Disconnect the speed sensor wire harness connector (4).
  8. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.

  9. Clean the area around the turbocharger speed sensor (2).
    CAUTION:

    Do not use a screw driver or tool to pry sensor out of the turbocharger bearing housing. Damage to sensor may result. If sensor is damaged during removal, install a new sensor.

  10. Remove the bolt (1) and the turbocharger speed sensor (2).
  11. Remove the old O-ring and clean out the bore, being careful not to drop any debris in the hole.

INSTALLATION

  1. Inspect the turbocharger speed sensor O-ring for cuts or damage and replace if necessary.
  2. Apply a light coating of clean engine oil to the turbocharger speed sensor O-ring.
  3. Install the turbocharger speed sensor (2) and tighten the bolt (1) to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  5. Route the turbo speed sensor wiring harness in the same configuration as removed.
  6. Connect the speed sensor wire harness connector (1).
  7. Attach the clip (2) in its original location to secure the turbo speed sensor wire harness connector.
  8. Position the NOx wire harness and the turbocharger speed sensor wire harness and close the retainer clip (1).
  9. Install a NEW  high temperature cable tie (1) securing the NOx sensor wire harness and the turbocharger speed sensor wire harness to the oil drain tube.
  10. Install the right wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  11. Remove support and lower the vehicle.
  12. Connect the negative battery cable(s). Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
