Removal And Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 RAM 3500 HD and 2019 RAM 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) crossover tube. Refer to TUBE, EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  3. Remove the nut (1), bolt (3) and the EGR Airflow control valve shield (2).

  4. Loosen the clamps (1) and remove the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) hose (3) from the EGR air flow control valve.
  5. Disconnect the EGR air flow control valve wire harness connector (2).

  6. Disconnect the Temperature and Manifold Absolute Pressure (TMAP) sensor wire harness connector (3).

  7. Disconnect the EGR valve wire harness connector (1).

  8. Remove the bolt (3) securing oil dipstick tube (4).
  9. Remove the bolts and the oil dipstick tube bracket (2).

  10. Remove the bolts (3) and the intake manifold (2).
  11. Remove and discard the gasket (1).

  12. If necessary, remove the bolts (1) and the EGR valve (2).

INSTALLATION 

  1. Clean all gasket mating surfaces.

  2. If removed, using a NEW  gasket, install the EGR valve (2) and tighten the bolts (1) to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

    NOTE:

    The gasket (1) must be installed with part number facing up and tab oriented towards the front of the engine.

  3. Using a NEW  gasket (1), install the intake manifold (2) and tighten the bolts (3) to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  4. Install the oil dipstick tube bracket (2) and tighten the bolts (1) to proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Install the bolt (3) securing the oil dip stick tube (4) to the bracket and tighten to proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  6. Connect the EGR valve wire harness connector (1).

  7. Connect the TMAP sensor wire harness connector (3).

  8. Connect EGR air flow control valve wire harness connector (2).
  9. Install the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) hose (3) to the EGR air flow control valve and tighten the clamp (1) to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  10. Install the EGR airflow control valve shield (2) and tighten the bolt (3) and nut (1) to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  11. Install the EGR crossover tube. Refer to TUBE, EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  12. Connect the negative battery cable(s). Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
