Removal And Installation

REMOVAL
- Remove axle shaft. Refer to SHAFT, AXLE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove retainer ring (1) from the axle shaft tube.
- Remove hub bearing nut locking key (1).
- Remove hub bearing nut with socket (special tool #2066600030, Socket, Hub Nut 12 Pin).
- Remove hub (2) and the outer bearing (1) from the axle.
- Pry out hub bearing seal (1) from the back of the hub (2).NOTE:
The inner part of the seal may stay on the axle tube. This part must also be removed with a pry bar.
- Remove rear bearing (1).
- Remove hub bearing cups (1&2) with a hammer and drift.
INSTALLATION
- Install outer hub bearing cup (1) with Installer (special tool #2066800030, Installer, Hub Outer Bearing Race) and Handle (special tool #C-4171, Driver Handle, Universal).
- Install inner hub bearing cup (2) with Installer (special tool #2066900030, Installer, Hub Inner Bearing Race) and Handle (special tool #C-4171, Driver Handle, Universal).
- Install rear bearing (1) into assembly.
- Install NEW grease seal with Installer (special tool #2066700030, Installer, Hub Seal) and Handle (special tool #C-4171, Driver Handle, Universal).
- Install the (special tool #2067700030, Guide, Hub) onto the axle tube.
- Slide hub (2) over the guide and onto the axle tube and install front bearing (1) into the hub.
- Install hub bearing nut with Socket (special tool #2066600030, Socket, Hub Nut 12 Pin) (1) and tighten to proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATION .
- Install the hub nut locking key (1).
- Install retainer ring (1).
- Install the axle shaft. Refer to SHAFT, AXLE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
