Removal And Installation

REMOVAL
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
- Locate the brake lamp sensor on the brake pedal support bracket under the instrument panel.
- Disconnect the wire harness connector (1) from the brake lamp sensor.
- Remove the mounting screw (1) from the sensor and the bracket.
- Pull the sensor (3) straight away from the keyed hole to remove it from the bracket.
- Remove the brake pedal sensor from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
- Position the sensor pin (2) into the bracket on the pedal.
- Install the sensor (3) and install the screw (1).
- Connect the wire harness connector (1).
- Connect the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
- Perform the "Brake Pedal Learn" procedure as follows:
- Park the vehicle on level ground.NOTE:
When performing the Brake Pedal Calibration Learn routine, make sure the brake pedal is NOT pressed.
NOTE:Not all PCMs support the Brake Pedal Learn. If the PCM supports it the routine will be available.
- With the scan tool, under the ABS "Miscellaneous Functions" menu, select and run the "Brake Pedal Calibration" routine.
- With the scan tool, under the PCM "Miscellaneous Functions" menu, select and run the "Brake Pedal Learn" routine.
- Park the vehicle on level ground.
