Removal And Installation

REMOVAL
WARNING:
The fuel system may be under a constant pressure (even with the engine off). Before servicing the fuel pump module, the fuel system pressure must be released.
- Perform the fuel tank draining procedure. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- If equipped, remove the fuel tank skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, FUEL TANK, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

- Loosen the clamp (3) and disconnect the fuel filler hose.
- Loosen the clamp (1) and disconnect the fuel vent hose.
- Disconnect the fresh air vent hose (2).
- Disconnect the fuel pump module wire harness connector (2).
- Disconnect the fuel supply (1) and return line (3) quick-connect fitting at the fuel pump module.
- Using a suitable hydraulic jack with a fuel tank adapter, support the fuel tank.
- Remove the two fuel tank support strap retaining nuts (1) and both fuel tank support straps (2).
- Lower the fuel tank and remove from hydraulic jack.
- If necessary, remove the fuel pump module. Refer to MODULE, FUEL PUMP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
INSTALLATION
- If removed, install the fuel pump module. Refer to MODULE, FUEL PUMP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Secure the fuel tank on a suitable hydraulic jack with a fuel tank adapter.
- Raise the fuel tank until snug to the body.
- Install the fuel tank straps (2) and tighten the nuts (1) to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS- 6.7L .
- Remove the hydraulic jack.
- Connect the fuel supply (1) and return (3) line quick connect fitting to the fuel pump module.
- Connect the fuel pump module wire harness connector (4).
- Connect the fresh air vent hose (2).
- Connect the fuel vent hose and securely tighten the clamp (1).
- Connect the fuel filler hose and securely tighten the clamp (3).
- If equipped, install the fuel tank skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, FUEL TANK, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the fuel line quick-connect fitting at the fuel rail.
- Connect the negative battery cable(s). Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Fill the fuel tank.
- Start the engine and check for leaks at all fuel tank connections.
