Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read Transmission Control Module (TCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Record the Event Data and Environmental Data.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read TCM DTCs and record on the repair order.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK BRAKE SWITCH ADJUSTMENT
- Turn the ignition off.
- Check the Brake Switch for damage that would cause it to be out of adjustment in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to SWITCH, STOP LAMP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
.
Is the Brake Switch in good operating condition?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Replace the Brake Switch in accordance with the Service information. Refer to SWITCH, STOP LAMP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to C635 DDCT TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK BRAKE SWITCH FUNCTION
- Disconnect the Brake switch harness connector.
- Measure the resistance across the brake switch terminals 1 and 4 while applying and releasing the brake pedal.NOTE:
The brake switch 2 is normally open when the brake pedal is released.
Does the resistance reading indicate that the switch is closing and opening when applying and releasing the brake pedal?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Replace the Brake Switch in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to SWITCH, STOP LAMP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to C635 DDCT TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST

- CHECK (B134) BRAKE SIGNAL 2 CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect the TCM C1 harness connector.
- Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) C1 connector.
- Disconnect the Body Control Module (BCM) C4 connector.
- Disconnect the Radio Frequency (RF) Hub C1 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (B134) Brake Signal 2 circuit between the Brake Switch harness connector and all related Module harness connectors.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms for each measurement?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Repair the (B134) Brake Signal 2 circuit for an open.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to C635 DDCT TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK (B134) BRAKE SIGNAL 2 CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Check for continuity between ground and the (B134) Brake Signal 2 circuit at the TCM C1 harness connector.
Is there continuity between ground and the (B134) Brake Signal 2 circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (B134) Brake Signal 2 circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to C635 DDCT TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 6
- Check for continuity between ground and the (B134) Brake Signal 2 circuit at the TCM C1 harness connector.
- CHECK (B134) BRAKE SIGNAL 2 CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO ANOTHER CIRCUIT
- Measure the resistance between the (B134) Brake Signal 2 circuit and all other circuits in each related Module harness connectors.
- Measure the resistance between the (B134) Brake Signal 2 circuit and all other circuits in the Brake Switch harness connector.
Is there continuity between the (B134) Brake Signal 2 circuit and any other circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (B134) Brake Signal 2 circuit for a short to another circuit.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to C635 DDCT TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 7
- CHECK BCM
- Connect the Brake Switch harness connector.
- Connect the BCM harness connector.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Apply and release the brake pedal several times.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Are Brake Switch DTCs set in the BCM?
Yes
- Replace the BCM in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, BODY CONTROL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to C635 DDCT TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 8
- CHECK PCM
- Turn the ignition off.
- Connect the PCM harness connector.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Apply and release the brake pedal several times.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Are Brake Switch DTCs set in the BCM?
Yes
- Go To 9
No
- Replace the PCM in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to C635 DDCT TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK RF HUB
- Turn the ignition off.
- Connect the RF Hub harness connector.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Apply and release the brake pedal several times.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Are Brake Switch DTCs set in the BCM?
Yes
- Replace the RF Hub in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, RADIO FREQUENCY (RF HUB), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to C635 DDCT TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 10
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect all TCM harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all TCM harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read TCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the TCM in accordance with the Service information. Refer to MODULE, TRANSMISSION CONTROL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to C635 DDCT TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to C635 DDCT TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
