FASTEN SEAT BELTS

To test the seat belt reminder function, perform the following:

With the drivers seat belt unbuckled and fully retracted, turn the ignition to the ON position. The seat belt warning light will flash 4 - 8 times and the chime will sound 3 - 5 seconds, then remain lit. If the seat belt is not fastened, and the vehicle reaches a speed of 5 - 10 mph ( 8 - 16 kmh ), the indicator light will flash 4 - 8 times and then remain lit while the chime sounds for 3 - 5 seconds. This will continue until the seatbelt is pulled from the retractor.

If the lamp does not light, verify the seat belt reminder function is enabled, Testing and Inspection for more information. If the reminder function is enabled, check the connection at the seat belt retractor. Replace as necessary.
