1 - BY-PASS HOSE

2 - THERMOSTAT HOUSING

3 - UPPER RADIATOR HOSE

NOTE: Inspect condition of all clamps and hoses, replace as necessary.

Disconnect negative battery cable.
Remove engine cover. Refer to Engine - Removal .
Drain engine coolant below thermostat level using draincock only. See Cooling - Standard Procedure .
Disconnect coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.
Remove coolant hoses and by-pass (1) hose from thermostat housing. See Fig 1.
Loosen accessory drive belt and reposition generator. Refer to Electrical/Charging/GENERATOR - Removal .
Remove thermostat housing and O-ring.
Clean all sealing surfaces.
