2.2L Diesel

  1. Position water pump/power steering pump assembly (3) into engine compartment.
  2. Raise vehicle.
  3. Install all five power steering pump mounting bolts (1, 2) securing pump assembly (3) to mounting plate (4). Tighten bolts to 28 N.m (21 ft. lbs.) torque.
  4. Tighten all remaining bolts securing mounting plate to engine to 28 N.m (21 ft. lbs.) torque.
  5. Lower vehicle.

  6. Install rear mounting bolt (2) fastening water pump (1) to the engine. Tighten bolt to 14 N.m (124 in. lbs.) torque.
  7. Remount A/C compressor (4) to engine and install all 4 mounting bolts. Tighten bolts to 28 N.m (21 ft. lbs.) torque.
  8. Install EGR mixing chamber.
  9. Install heater bypass hose at to water pump.
  10. Install heater hose tube at water pump.
  11. Install lower radiator hose at inlet to water pump.
  12. Install fluid supply hose to power steering pump.
  13. Install generator. Refer to Electrical/Charging/GENERATOR - Installation .
  14. Install engine cooling module (radiator, fan, A/C condenser, and turbo intercooler). See Cooling/Engine/RADIATOR, Engine Cooling - Installation .
  15. Raise vehicle.
  16. Using a lint free towel, wipe clean the open power steering hose end and the power steering pump port. Replace the used O-ring with new. Lubricate the O-ring with power steering fluid.
  17. Attach the power steering fluid pressure hose to the pump outlet port. Refer to Steering/Pump - Installation . Tighten power steering pressure hose tube nut to 32 N.m (23 ft. lbs.) torque.
  18. Install pump pulley. Refer to Steering/Pump - Installation
  19. Install accessory drive belt. See Cooling/Accessory Drive/BELT, Serpentine - Installation .
  20. Install lower engine compartment silencer assembly and the drive belt splash shield.
  21. Lower vehicle.
  22. Install engine top appearance cover.
  23. Connect battery negative terminal.
  24. Evacuate air and refill cooling system. See Cooling/Engine/PUMP ASSEMBLY, Water and Power Steering - Standard Procedure 
  25. Fill and bleed power steering system. Refer to Steering - Standard Procedure
  26. Evacuate and recharge A/C system. Refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM CHARGE .
  27. Check cooling system for leaks. See Cooling - Diagnosis and Testing
