1 - THERMOSTAT HOUSING

2 - COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

3 - HOSE-HEATER SUPPLY

4 - BOLTS

Disconnect negative battery cable.
Drain cooling system below thermostat housing level.
Remove thermostat. See Cooling/Engine/THERMOSTAT - Removal .
Disconnect engine coolant temperature sensor.
Disconnect heater supply hose.
Turbocharger equipped vehicles:
- Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM RECOVERY .
- Disconnect A/C suction line from A/C compressor. Refer to Heating and Air Conditioning/Plumbing/LINE, A/C Suction - Removal .
Remove housing (1) attaching bolts (4).
Remove housing (1) and gasket.
