A/C Compressor
WARNING:

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. See Heating and Air Conditioning/Plumbing - Standard Procedure .WARNING: Do not open the radiator drain with the engine cooling system hot and under pressure. Failure to follow this warning may result in serious or fatal injury.
- Partially drain the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling - Standard Procedure .
- Disconnect the upper radiator hose from the radiator.NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the hood latch from the upper radiator support for A/C compressor service.
- Remove the upper radiator support and position it out of the way. Refer to Body/Exterior/CROSSMEMBER, Radiator - Removal .
- Remove the accessory drive belt (7). Refer to Cooling/Accessory Drive/BELT, Serpentine - Removal .
- Position the engine cooling module forward to gain access to the A/C discharge line (1) and the A/C suction line (5).
- Remove the bolts (2 and 4) that secure the A/C suction line and the A/C discharge line to the A/C compressor (3).
- Disconnect the A/C suction and discharge lines from the A/C compressor and remove and discard the O-ring seals.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- If equipped with a diesel engine, remove the turbocharger to charge air cooler hose to gain access to the A/C compressor (6). Refer to Engine/Turbocharger System/LINES and HOSES, Turbocharger - Removal .
- Disconnect the engine wire harness connectors from the A/C clutch coil connector (1) and the A/C high pressure switch (4) (if equipped).
- Support the A/C compressor and remove the four bolts (5) that secure the compressor to the mounting bracket (7).
- Remove the A/C compressor from the engine compartment.
- Install plugs in, or tape over the opened refrigerant line fittings and the compressor ports (2 and 3).
