Housing, HVAC: Disassembly: Housing-HVAC

NOTE: The HVAC housing must be removed from the vehicle and disassembled for service of the A/C evaporator.
NOTE: LHD model with A/C shown in Fig 1. RHD and heater-only models similar.

  1. Remove the HVAC housing assembly and place it on a workbench. See Heating and Air Conditioning/Distribution/HOUSING, HVAC - Removal .
  2. Remove the air distribution housing (2) from the HVAC housing (1). See Heating and Air Conditioning/Distribution/HOUSING, HVAC - Removal .
  3. Remove the air inlet housing (3) from the HVAC housing. See Heating and Air Conditioning/Distribution/HOUSING, HVAC - Removal .

  4. Disengage the blower motor wire harness connector (1) from the retainer located on the HVAC housing (2).
  5. Remove the three screws (3) that secure the blower motor (4) to the bottom of the HVAC housing and remove the blower motor.

    NOTE: If the foam seal for the flange is deformed or damaged, it must be replaced.
  6. Remove the foam seal (1) from the flange (2) located on the upper half of the HVAC housing (4).
  7. Remove the two screws (3) that secure the flange to the HVAC housing and remove the flange.
    NOTE: If a foam insulator for the A/C evaporator or its tubes is deformed or damaged, it must be replaced.
  8. Carefully lift the A/C evaporator and tubes (7) out of the lower half of the HVAC housing (6).
  9. Remove the eleven screws and one clip (5) that secure the upper half of the HVAC housing to the lower half of the HVAC housing.
  10. Separate the two halves of the housing.
