Diagnostic Test
- TEST FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION NOTE: Troubleshoot any Ignition, Battery, or Cluster DTCs before proceeding.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds then turn the ignition on.
- Using the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display: B2107-IGNITION SWITCH SENSE INPUT CIRCUIT/PERFORMANCE?
Yes
- Go to step 2
No
- The condition that caused this code to set is not present at this time. Using the SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition. Operate the system several times and recheck for active DTCs.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) - Standard Procedure
- CHECK IGNITION SWITCH OPERATION
- Disconnect the Ignition Switch harness connector.
- Measure the voltage of the G20 and G900 Ignition Switch Sense circuits at the Ignition Switch harness connector.
Is the voltage above 4.4 volts?
Yes
- Replace the Ignition Switch in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) - Standard Procedure
No
- Go to step 3
- (G900) IGNITION SWITCH SENSE RETURN CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Ignition Switch harness connector.
- Disconnect the Instrument Cluster C2 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (G900) Ignition Switch Sense Return circuit.
Is the resistance below 10K ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (G900) Ignition Switch Sense Return circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) - Standard Procedure
No
- Go to step 4
- (G900) IGNITION SWITCH SENSE RETURN CIRCUIT OPEN
- Measure the resistance of the (G900) Ignition Switch Sense Return circuit.
Is the resistance above 10K ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (G900) Ignition Switch Sense Return circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) - Standard Procedure
No
- Go To 5
- Measure the resistance of the (G900) Ignition Switch Sense Return circuit.
- (G20) IGNITION SWITCH SENSE SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Ignition Switch harness connector.
- Disconnect the Instrument Cluster C2 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (G20) Ignition Switch Sense Signal circuit.
Is the resistance below 10K ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (G20) Ignition Switch Sense Signal circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) - Standard Procedure
No
- Go to step 6
- (G20) IGNITION SWITCH SENSE SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
- Measure the resistance of the (G20) Ignition Switch Sense Signal circuit.
Is the resistance above 10K ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (G20) Ignition Switch Sense Signal circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) - Standard Procedure
No
- Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) - Standard Procedure
- Measure the resistance of the (G20) Ignition Switch Sense Signal circuit.
