SHAFT, Output, 5th, 6th, and Reverse: Disassembly: Disassembly

NOTE: The retaining bolt has left hand threads.

Remove the retaining bolt (2) for the case side tapered roller bearing (3).

Using Remover L-4406 (1) and Collets L-4406-2 remove the case side reverse/fifth/sixth output shaft bearing.

Remove sixth gear (1) from the output shaft.

Remove sixth gear needle bearing (1) from output shaft.

Using Snap Ring Pliers (1) remove the snap ring (2) holding the fifth/sixth gear synchronizer (3).

NOTE: Insure synchronizer in the neutral position.
Remove fifth gear (2) and the fifth/sixth gear synchronizer (1) together.

Remove the fifth gear needle bearing (1) from the output shaft (2).

Remove the reverse synchronizer lock ring assembly (1, 2) from the output shaft.

Remove the reverse synchronizer snap ring (1) using Snap Ring Pliers (2).

Remove reverse gear (2) and the synchronizer (1) together.

Remove the reverse needle bearing (2) from the output shaft (1).

Using Remover 5048-6, 5048-1 (2), Collets 6545 and Plug 8140-2, remove the bellhousing side reverse/fifth/sixth output shaft bearing from the output shaft (3).
