Measuring Valve Lash: Notes

NOTE: The engine must be cold to measure valve lash.

Remove engine cover.
Remove cylinder head cover. See Engine/Cylinder Head/COVER(S), Cylinder Head - Removal .

Rotate camshaft so lobes are vertical (1).
Check clearance using feeler gauges.
Repeat for all tappets and record readings.
If clearance was too small, refer to Clearance too Small .
If clearance was too large, refer toClearance too Large .
