PUMP, Engine Oil: Inspection: Inspection

- Remove timing chain cover. See Engine/Valve Timing/COVER(S), Engine Timing - Removal .
- Remove oil pan. See Engine/Lubrication/PAN, Oil - Removal .
- Measure the distance between the tensioner body and the guide shoe as shown in Fig 1.
- If the distance is 10.1 mm (0.397 in.) or greater, replace the chain.
