Secondary Thermostat - Turbocharged Engine

NOTE: Turbocharged engines use a orifice plate in place of a secondary thermostat.
  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air filter assembly. Refer to Engine/Air Intake System/BODY, Air Cleaner - Removal
  3. Partially drain the cooling system. See Cooling - Standard Procedure 
  4. Disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector 2).
  5. Remove the coolant hose (1) from the thermostat housing (2).
  6. Remove the coolant hose (4) from the coolant adapter (6).
  7. Remove the coolant hose (5) from the coolant adapter (6)
  8. Remove the coolant hose (7) from the coolant adapter (6).
  9. Remove the coolant hose (8) from the coolant adapter (6).
  10. Remove the coolant adapter mounting bolts (9).
  11. Remove the coolant adapter (6) and the orifice plate.
