WARNING:
Do not loosen the radiator cap with the cooling system hot and pressurized. Serious burns from the coolant can occur.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine - Removal .
- Drain engine coolant below the thermostat level using the draincock only. See Cooling - Standard Procedure .
- Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the coolant hoses and the bypass hose (1) from the thermostat housing (2).
- Loosen the accessory drive belt and reposition the generator. Refer to Electrical/Charging/GENERATOR - Removal .
- Remove the thermostat housing (2) and O-ring.
- Clean all sealing surfaces.
