Secondary Thermostat - Turbocharged Engine

NOTE: Turbocharged engine use a orifice plate in place of a secondary thermostat.
  1. Inspect the water pump inlet tube O-rings for damage before installing the tube in the coolant adapter. Replace O-ring as necessary.
  2. Position the orifice plate and coolant adapter onto the cylinder head water pump tube.
  3. Install the coolant adapter mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts to 18 N.m (159 in. lbs.).
  4. Install the coolant hose (8) onto the coolant adapter (6).
  5. Install the coolant hose (7) onto the coolant adapter (6).
  6. Install the coolant hose (4) onto the coolant adapter (6).
  7. Install the coolant hose (1) onto the thermostat housing (2).
  8. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector (3).
  9. Install the air filter housing. Refer to Engine/Air Intake System/BODY, Air Cleaner - Installation
  10. Fill the cooling system. See Cooling - Standard Procedure .
