Remove upper torque strut (4) attaching bolts and set strut aside. See Engine/Engine Mounting/STRUT, Torque - Removal .

Turbocharger equipped vehicles:
- Discharge and evacuate air conditioning system (refer to HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING - SERVICE INFORMATION ).
- Disconnect air conditioning lines at junction block (1) near upper timing belt cover.

Remove upper timing belt cover fasteners (1) and remove cover.
