Diagnostic Test

  1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, record and erase DTC's
    3. Operate the Decklid or Liftgate Switch several times.
    4. Cycle the ignition from on to off.
    5. Turn the ignition on.
    6. With the scan tool, read DTC's.

      Does the scan tool display B186D-TRUNK RELEASE SWITCH STUCK?

      Yes 

      • Go to step  2

      No 

  2. SWITCH SHORTED

    1. With the scan tool, erase DTC's.
    2. Disconnect the Decklid or Liftgate Release Switch connector.
    3. With the scan tool, read DTC's.

      Does the scan tool display B186D-TRUNK RELEASE SWITCH STUCK?

      No 

      Yes 

      • Go to step  3
  3. (P1) DECKLID OR (P30) LIFTGATE RELEASE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Cluster C3 connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between ground and the (P1) Decklid or (P30) Liftgate Release Switch Sense circuit.

      Is the resistance below 10,000.0 ohms?

      Yes 

      No
