Power Steering Cooler - Removal
REMOVAL
NOTE: This procedure applies only to vehicles without a turbocharged engine that have an externally mounted cooler.
NOTE: Before proceeding, Service Precautions .
1. Siphon as much fluid as possible from the power steering fluid reservoir.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Service and Repair.
3. Remove the hose clamp attaching the fluid return hose (3) to the power steering fluid cooler (2). Remove the return hose from the cooler.
4. LHD - Remove the hose clamp attaching the power steering cooler hose to the fitting (1) in the power steering gear outlet port. Remove the hose from the fitting.
5. LHD - Remove the two screws securing the cooler (2) to the front suspension crossmember (3).
6. LHD - Open the tube routing clamp (4) on the right front of the power steering gear housing and remove the cooler tube from it.
7. RHD - Remove the hose clamp attaching the power steering cooler hose to the fitting (1) in the power steering gear outlet port. Remove the hose from the fitting.
8. RHD - Remove the two screws securing the cooler (2) to the front suspension crossmember (3).
9. Remove the cooler from the vehicle.
