Power Steering Cooler - Installation






INSTALLATION

NOTE: This procedure applies only to vehicles without a turbocharged engine that have an externally mounted cooler.

1. Slide a hose clamp onto the end of the power steering cooler inlet hose (gear end) far enough to clear the steel fitting on the power steering gear once the hose is installed.









2. LHD - Align the cooler outlet tube with the open tube routing clamp (4) on the right front of the power steering gear housing, and snap it into place. Close the clamp.
3. LHD - Slide the cooler inlet hose (with cooler (2) attached) onto the steering gear outlet fitting (1). Install the hose clamp on the hose past the bead formed into the fitting and secure in place.
4. LHD - Install the two screws attaching the cooler (2) to the front suspension crossmember (3). Tighten the screws to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.).










5. RHD - Slide the cooler inlet hose (with cooler (2) attached) onto the steering gear outlet fitting (1). Install the hose clamp on the hose past the bead formed into the fitting and secure in place.
6. RHD - Install the two screws attaching the cooler (2) to the front suspension crossmember (3). Tighten the screws to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.).










7. Install the fluid return hose (3) on the power steering fluid cooler (2) outlet tube. Install the hose clamp on the hose past the bead formed into the end of the cooler tube and secure in place.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Steering - Power Steering System Bleeding
10. Check for leaks.
