P0501-VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR #1 PERFORMANCE (AUTO TRANS)

- When Monitored:
Engine running. Transmission not in park or neutral. Brakes not applied. Engine run time greater than 10 seconds.

- Set Condition:
The PCM does not see vehicle speed signal from the transmission control side of the PCM. Two Trip Fault.





1. ACTIVE DTC
1. Ignition on, engine not running.
2. With a scan tool, read DTCs.

Is the DTC active at this time?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Refer to the INTERMITTENT CONDITION Diagnostic Procedure. Intermittent Condition Test
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Powertrain Verification Test

2. TRANSMISSION DTC(S)
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, check the Transmission DTCs.

Are there any Transmission DTCs present?

Yes

- Refer to the appropriate Transmission DTC in the Transmission category.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Powertrain Verification Test

No

- Before continuing, check the PCM harness connector terminals for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Repair as necessary. Replace and program the Powertrain Module.
