Column Mount

  1. Route the shifter cable through the dash panel (4), and install the shifter cable grommet (3) into the hole into the dash panel (4).

  2. Reconnect the shift cable (2) to the shift mechanism (1).
  3. Reconnect the shift cable to the cable bracket (3).

  4. Use a tie strap (1) to secure the shift cable (3) to the shift bracket (2).
  5. Place shifter into PARK.
  6. Raise vehicle.
    NOTE: The transmission must be in PARK.

  7. Route shifter cable (1) through the mounting bracket (2).
  8. Engage the gearshift cable (1) eyelet onto the transmission manual shift lever (3).
  9. Install the gearshift cable retaining clip (4) (if equipped).
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Verify the transmission shifts in and out of PARK, and through all gear ranges. If necessary, adjust the cable. See Transmission and Transfer Case/Automatic - NAG1/CABLE, Shift - Adjustments .

  12. Install the silencer panel (1), and the silencer panel fasteners.

  13. Install the instrument panel steering column cover reinforcement (1) to the bracket (2), and install the screws (3).
  14. Reconnect the trunk release harness connector to the trunk release switch on the knee bolster.
  15. Install the knee bolster.
  16. Install the knee bolster fasteners.
  17. Install the instrument panel side trim at the end of the instrument panel.
