Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. 1)  INTERMITTENT DTC

With the scan tool, erase the current Intrusion Transceiver Module DTC's.

    Turn the ignition off.

Arm the VTSS and wait 1 minute.

Disarm the VTSS and turn the ignition on.

Does the scan tool display the same DTC?

    Yes

    1. Go To  2).

    No

    1. The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring harness for a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched or partially broken wires.
    2. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. (Refer to ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES - STANDARD PROCEDURE - BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1) , also see (STANDARD PROCEDURE - PCM/ECM/SKREEM PROGRAMMING) .
  2. 2)  (A415) FUSED B+
Fig 1: CHECKING FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT AT INTRUSION SENSOR CONNECTOR

    Disconnect the Intrusion Sensor connector.

Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (A415) Fused B(+) circuit in the Intrusion Sensor connector.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

    Yes

    1. Go To  3).

    No

    1. Repair the (A415) Fused B+ circuit for an open.
    2. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. (Refer to ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES - STANDARD PROCEDURE - BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1) , also see (STANDARD PROCEDURE - PCM/ECM/SKREEM PROGRAMMING) .
  3. 3)  (Z902) GROUND CIRCUIT
Fig 2: CHECKING GROUND CIRCUIT AT INTRUSION SENSOR CONNECTOR
    GC0041426Courtesy of DAIMLERCHRYSLER CORP.

Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z902) Ground circuit at the Intrusion Sensor connector.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

    Yes

    1. Go To  4).

    No

    1. Repair the (Z902) Ground circuit for an open.
    2. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. (Refer to ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES - STANDARD PROCEDURE - BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1) , also see (STANDARD PROCEDURE - PCM/ECM/SKREEM PROGRAMMING) .
  4. 4)  INTRUSION SENSOR
Fig 3: MEASURING VOLTAGE OF LIN BUS CIRCUIT AT INTRUSION SENSOR CONNECTOR WITH THE KEY ON AND OFF
    GC0041427Courtesy of DAIMLERCHRYSLER CORP.

The Intrusion Sensor connector is disconnected.

Measure the voltage of the (D122) LIN Bus circuit at the Intrusion Sensor connector with the key on and off.

Observe the voltage displayed on the voltmeter.

Is the voltage between 1 and 12 volts?

    Yes

    1. Replace the Intrusion Transceiver Module (Refer to REMOVAL) .
    2. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. (Refer to ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES - STANDARD PROCEDURE - BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1) , also see (STANDARD PROCEDURE - PCM/ECM/SKREEM PROGRAMMING) .

    No

    1. Go To  5).
  5. 5)  (D122) LIN BUS CIRCUIT OPEN
Fig 4: CHECKING LIN BUS CIRCUIT FOR OPEN
    GC0041429Courtesy of DAIMLERCHRYSLER CORP.

    Disconnect the Intrusion Sensor connector.

Disconnect the Intrusion Transceiver Module harness connector.

Measure the resistance of the (D122) LIN Bus circuit between the Intrusion Transceiver Module and the Intrusion Sensor connector.

Is the resistance below 3.0 ohms?

    Yes

    1. Replace the Intrusion Transceiver Module (Refer to REMOVAL) .
    2. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. (Refer to ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES - STANDARD PROCEDURE - BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1) , also see (STANDARD PROCEDURE - PCM/ECM/SKREEM PROGRAMMING) .

    No

    1. Repair the (D122) LIN Bus circuit for an open.
    2. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. (Refer to ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES - STANDARD PROCEDURE - BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1) , also see (STANDARD PROCEDURE - PCM/ECM/SKREEM PROGRAMMING) .
